言語交換プログラムは、学生・留学生・ポスドク研究員が、言語交換を通じて出会い、会話を通じて語学力を磨いたり、
お互いの文化理解、友好を深めたりすることを目的として実施しています。
“Language Exchange Program” is to give students/posdoc-researchers the opportunities to meet with each other and to brush up their language skills as well as to promote their intercultural understanding and friendship through the program.
1. 申込み期間: Period of Application
2011年10月4日（火）～10月16日（日）
October 4th (Tue) ～October16th (Sun), 2011
2. 申込みできる方: Eligibility
以下すべてを満たす方の応募が可能です。
Applicants have to meet all following requirements.
(1)東京大学に所属する学生・研究員（教職員・卒業生、学外の方はご遠慮ください）
Students or posdoc-researchers of the University of Tokyo (Faculty members or administrative staff, alumni, or people who do not belong to the University of Tokyo are NOT eligible for this program).
（２）2011年11月から2012年1月の3か月、週に1回、1時間程度を目安に活動できる方(日時等はパートナーと話し合って決めて下さい).
Those who can meet a language exchange partner once in a week for 1 hour (approximately) between November, 2011 and January, 2012.
（３）マッチングを希望する方のみ：11/7（月）～11/11（金）各日17:00から本郷キャンパスで行うマッチング会（交流相手の紹介のための30分程度の集まり）に参加でき、かつ、その後の言語交換の活動を本郷キャンパス・あるいはその周辺で行える方。
For applicants who wish to use the matching service only: Those who can attend a matching meeting (30 minute- gathering for introducing your partner) during Nov, 7th (Mon)~Nov, 11th (Fri) , AND those who can participate in the program at the Hongo campus or near the campus.
（４）12月中旬に、国際センター相談室がお願いするアンケートに協力できる方（このプログラムは試行中のため、改善点などをお伺いします）
Those who can give the questionnaire feedback of the language exchange program requested by the International Center Advising Room (Any points of improvement or suggestions are welcome as the program is trial).
※このプログラムは、受験勉強・語学試験の先生、専門の勉強の手伝いや外国語の文章の添削・校正などを目的とした参加はできません。
※ Please be sure that the purpose of the program is not for preparation of exams or language tests, assistance for specific studies, or proofreading or editing essays.
※応募した方全員がパートナーの紹介を受けられるわけではありませんので、ご了承ください。
※ Please note that not all applicants may have a language exchange partner introduced by the International Center Advising Room.
3. 実施期間 : Period of the program
2011年11月～2012年1月末
November, 2011~the end of January, 2012.
4. 実施内容: Contents of the program
今回は、以下の2種類：（１）マッチング形式、（２）掲示板へのプロフィール掲示形式の交流機会を設けました。希望の方法を選んで申し込んで下さい。
There are two options to participate in this program: (1) Matching Style、 (2) Posting your profile on built-in board. Please select the one you prefer.
（１）マッチング形式: Matching Style
国際センターに、パートナー選び、マッチングの仲介をしてほしい人向けの方法です。
国際センターにて、希望交換言語、マッチング会への参加可能状況などを踏まえてマッチングを行います。マッチングから初回の顔合わせまでは、国際センターが仲介し、パートナーと交流ができるようセッティングします。初回顔合わせ後は、パートナーと会う日時や場所などを決めて、自由に交流をして下さい。
なお、マッチング会は11/7（月）～11/11（金）各日17:00から30分程度、国際センター相談室にて実施します。このマッチング会に参加できない人は、マッチング形式に応募することは出来ません。
This is the way for those who would like the International Center to select your language partner and introduce the partner to you. The International Center will do matching, based on your preferred language to exchange and your available dates for matching meeting. Then, the International Center will arrange the first meeting for you and your language exchange partner. After the first meeting, please decide the time and location with your partner and exchange languages freely.
The Matching meeting will be conducted during the period of November, 7th (Mon)~November, 11th (Fri), from 17:00 (approximately for 30 minutes) on each day at the International Center Advising Room. ?If you cannot attend this meeting, you will not be able to apply for the Matching Style.
＜マッチング形式で交流相手が見つからなかった場合は？＞
<What if the International Center could not find your partner?>
希望言語やマッチング会への参加可能状況により、マッチングが成立しない場合があります。その場合は、以下の「（２）掲示板へのプロフィール掲示」を希望することもできます。（掲示板への掲示を希望しない場合は、申込書にその旨を記載して下さい）
Depending on your preferred language to exchange or your available schedule for matching meeting, the International Center may not be able to find your language exchange partner. In this case, you can also request for (2) Posting your profile on built-in board. If you do not wish to do so, please indicate in the application.
（２）掲示板へのプロフィール掲示形式: Positing your profile on the built-in board.
自由にパートナーを選びたい人向けの方法です。国際センター掲示板(第二本部棟１F)に、あなたのプロフィール［サンプルはこちら］を掲示し、興味をもった人からの連絡を待つというシステムです。掲示板に掲示する内容は、a)希望する言語、b)所属学部／大学院、c)ステイタス（修士1年、博士3年、研究員など）、d)母語、e)性別、f)日本語力、g)言語交換で話してみたいことの7項目です。名前、メールアドレスや携帯番号などプライバシーに関わることは掲示しません。あなたのプロフィールに関心を持った人には、国際センターにて「あなたの名前」と「パソコンのメールアドレス」のみお知らせします。
※掲示期限は2012年3月末までです。この期限より前に、掲示を取りやめてほしい人は随時、国際センター相談室に連絡して下さい。
This is the way for those who would like to choose your language partner by yourself. On the bullet-in board in the International Center（1F of Administration Bureau Building #2）, you will post your profile [sample] and will wait for answers from those who are interested in language exchange with you. The contents of positing on the built-in board include 7 items: a) preferred language to exchange, b) name of your faculty/graduate school, c) status (e.g. Master 1st year, Doctor 3rd year, Researcher, etc.) d) your mother tongue, e) gender, f) the level of your Japanese language skills, g) contents that you wish to talk in the language exchange.
Your name, e-mail address or mobile phone number, and any of your personal information will not be posted on the built-in board. Those who are interested in your profile need to come to the International Center first, and then we will tell them only “your name” and “your e-mail address (for PC).”
※Your profile can be posted until the end of March, 2012. If you would like to stop positing your profile before the date, please contact the International Center Advising Room.
5. 申込方法: How to apply
メールで申込みして下さい。申込書をこちらからダウンロードして、入力して下さい。
メールに申込書を添付の上、件名を「言語交換参加希望」として、東京大学国際センター相談室adv@ic.u-tokyo.ac.jpに、10月16日（日）までに送ってください（締切厳守）。
Please apply by e-mail.
Please download the application form hereand fill in the form.
Please send the application form as an attachment by e-mail to adv@ic.u-tokyo.ac.jp with the tile of “Request for the language exchange participation” by Sunday, October, 16th (Be very careful to observe the deadline).
＜注意事項＞ Notes:
※１ 第一回目の言語交換（2011年6月～8月実施）に申込みもしくは参加した方も再応募可能です。
Those who had previously applied for or participated in the language exchange program for June-Aug, 2011 can also apply for this program.
※２ 応募多数の場合は、希望言語、スケジュールなどを参照し、抽選とします。
If there are too many applicants, we will select partners by lottery, referencing preferred language and available schedule.
※３ パートナーは、必ずしも「あなたが希望する言語」が母語ではなく、母語なみに使える話者である可能性もあります。
Your language partner may not necessarily speak your preferred language as his or her first language but may speak as near-native level.?
※４ 申請書の記入漏れがないようにお願いします（組み合わせるのが難しくなります）
Please fill in everything on the form. (Otherwise, it will be difficult to match)
※５ マッチング会に来られない場合は、掲示板形式での参加となります。
If you cannot attend the matching meeting, the way you can participate in the language program will be Posting your profile on the built-in board.
※６ マッチングを希望したにも関わらず、交流相手が紹介できなかった方で、掲示板形式を希望する方には、掲示板に情報を掲示します。（掲示板形式の詳細は、４.実施内容（２）掲示板へのプロフィール掲示形式を参照して下さい）
Those who applied for the first option, Matching style, but could not have a language exchange partner can also apply for the second option, the Posting your profile to find a language exchange partner, if you wish. (The details for the Positing your profile style, please see 4. Contents of the program (2) Posting your profile on the built-in board.
※７ 今回の交流期間は2011年11月～2012年1月末までとします。
The period of this program this time is from November, 2011 until the end of January, 2012.
※８ 12月中旬にフォローアップアンケートを提出してもらいます。
You will be asked to submit a follow-up questionnaire in the middle of December.

【よくある質問】 Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. どのようにしてマッチングをするのですか？ How do you conduct matching process?
A1. 希望言語、参加できるマッチング会がいつかを基本としてマッチングペアを探します。その他、同性のみとの交流を希望する場合は、それも考慮します。
We will try to match up you and your language partner based on your preferred language and availability of scheduled meeting. Other preference, such as same gender will be also considered.
Q2. どのぐらいの確率でマッチングが成立するのですか？ How successful is the matching?
A2. 応募状況や希望言語、マッチング会への参加可能状況などにより異なりますので一概には言えません。できるだけ多く、参加可能なマッチング会を選んで頂くことで、マッチングができる可能性は高まります。
It is difficult to answer the question because it depends on the number of applicants, the type of preferred language, or the availability of scheduled meeting. The possibility to have a language partner will be increased if you choose the available meeting days as many as possible while filling in the application form.
●参考：第1回言語交換プログラム（2011年6月～8月実施）の組み合わせ率は52%でした。
●Reference: The percentage of the successful matching (the Language Exchange conducted between Jun~Aug 2011) was 52%.
Q3. マッチング会に参加ができない場合は？ What if we cannot attend the matching meeting?
A3. マッチング形式を利用する方は、必ず、指定のマッチング会のどれかひとつに参加してもらうことになっています。そのため、残念ですが、掲示板形式を選んで頂くか、次回以降に予定されている言語交換プログラムに参加して下さい。
Those who wish to use the Matching Style have to make sure that they can attend at least one day of the scheduled matching meeting days. Therefore, if you cannot attend the meeting, you will need to choose other option, Posting your profile on the built-in board, or please apply for the language exchange program next time.
Q4. マッチングされた言語パートナーを変更することはできますか？ Can I change my language partner who was matched?
A4. 変更はできません。
You cannot change your language partner.
Q5. 掲示板へのプロフィール掲示を希望しますが、希望内容を追加・省略することはできますか？
I would like to post my profile on the built-in board, but can I add or delete some information?
A5. 希望内容の追加・省略することはできません。例えば、所属する研究科を省略したり、「パートナーは博士課程所属の学生のみ希望」などを加えることはできません。ご了承下さい。
You cannot add some information or delete the original information. For example, you cannot delete your graduate school or department or you cannot add a comment, such as “Prefer Doctoral students only as a language exchange partner.”
Q6. 掲示板へのプロフィール掲示を取りやめたいのですが？I would like to stop positing my profile on the built-in board.
A6. 掲示板への掲示は2012年3月末までですが、それまでに中止してほしい人は、随時、国際センター相談室にメール[adv@ic.u-tokyo.ac.jp]にてお知らせ下さい。但し、掲示を取りやめるまでに、あなたのプロフィールを紹介していた場合、入れ違いで紹介者からメールが送られる場合があります。その際には「言語交換プログラムへの参加を取りやめました」と紹介者に伝えて下さい。
Profiles are posted until the end of March, 2012, but please contact the International Center Advising Room by e-mail [adv@ic.u-tokyo.ac.jp] if you would like to stop positing. However, you may receive e-mails from those who are interested in language exchange with you if they had already seen your details information before your profile is removed. In this case, please tell them that you had quit the participation of the language exchange program.
Q7. 英語が母語の留学生と言語交換を行いたいのですが？ I would like to exchange languages with an international student who is a native speaker of English.
A7. パートナーは、必ずしも、あなたの希望言語の母語話者であるとは限りません。たとえば、英語を希望した場合、母語なみに英語を話すフランス人や中国人である可能性もあります。「ネイティブ」という言葉にこだわらず言語交換をして頂きたいと考えています。
Your language partner is not necessarily a native speaker of your preferred language. For example, if you prefer English, your language partner can be French or Chinese who can speak English at near native level. We would like you to participate in the language exchange program without focusing on the word “Native.”
Q8. 希望言語が2言語以上あるのですが、複数言語を希望することはできますか？
I have more than 2 preferred languages to exchange. Can I apply for more than one language?

[マッチング形式を利用の場合]
希望できるのは、1言語のみです。
［掲示板形式の場合］
複数言語を希望することも可能です。ただし、国際センターから複数言語のパートナー情報を受け取ったにも関わらず、パートナーにコンタクトを取らないということがないようにして下さい。

You can apply for more than one language. However, please do not forget to contact them once you received the contact information from the International Center.
